Do you struggle with figuring out what products are Low FODMAP? It can be very confusing! One question I’ve been getting frequently is “What protein powders are Low FODMAP?”
There are a few things to take into consideration when looking for a Low FODMAP protein powder. First, are you looking for dairy or plant based? Are there any additional additives, like fibers or sugar alcohols? Why do you need it (i.e you’re an athlete, your diet is low in protein or you need to gain weight )? Taking those things into consideration, these are my top 5 recommendations:
Gold Standard Whey: this one is French Vanilla flavored and includes both whey protein concentrate and isolate. Whey protein concentrate is considered high FODMAP because it contains lactose. This product includes the lactase enzyme which makes it a lactose free product.
Isopure Whey Protein Isolate: this product is unflavored and contains only whey protein isolate, which has little to no lactose.
Vital Proteins Collagen: this only has one ingredient, bovine collagen peptides (aka protein). I often recommend it because it truly has no taste and dissolves in hot and cold liquids.
Stellar Labs Vegan Protein: this is Low FODMAP certified by @fodmapfriendlyfoodprogram meaning it’s been tested for FODMAP levels. Great plant based/Vegan option. This brand also has Low FODMAP whey proteins as well.
Naked Brown Rice Protein: the Naked brand is awesome because they have minimal ingredients, making their labels easy to decipher! Brown rice protein is not only Low FODMAP, but it’s plant based/vegan as well.
