Happy Friday!

One of my favorite things to read on Friday mornings are “Friday 5’s” from other bloggers. Whether it’s lifestyle, fashion or health, they’re always interesting and I always find a good tip or new product. So I thought that I would start this series myself! It will definitely have gut health information as well as some personal favorites. Read on for my first “Friday 5”!

  1. Diet & Colon Cancer Risk: A new meta-analysis (i.e a bunch of studies) looked at how different dietary components impact a person’s risk for colon cancer. The analysis found that alcohol and red meat raise a person’s risk, while calcium, yogurt and fiber lower the risk. You can read more about the study here.

  2. Epicured Chicken & Eggplant Parm: If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I shared a picture of what most people thought was lasagna yesterday. It was actually this delicious Chicken & Eggplant Parm from Epicured! They sent me some of their new items to try and this was by far my favorite. If you’re following a Low FODMAP diet and don’t want to cook, they’re a great option to try!

  3. Fixer Upper: I’m about 5 years late to this party, but I recently started watching Fixer Upper reruns on Hulu! I live in Philadelphia and there has been A LOT of snow and cold weather, so there’s nothing better than binge watching a good show. My husband and I are also moving to the suburbs this summer, so it’s giving me lots of ideas!

  4. WCTherapyGroup Instagram: I love a good instagram account and I was excited to find awesome content from a semi-local group, West Chester Therapy Group. They’re posts are short and thought provoking, basically great tid bits you get from your therapist! I am very pro-therapy and believe having a healthy mind goes along with having a healthy gut. Check them out here!

  5. Liz McMahon Nutrition: Sharing new info from my nutrtion practice! I’m now accepting Highmark (Blue Cross/Blue Shield), Independence Blue Cross and Aetna Health insurance. If you’re interested in setting up an appointment, call the number on the back of your insurance card and check to see if you have nutrition counseling benefits. I’m also in the process of launching my Gut Health Reset: IBS Program. This is a 6 month program that will focus on finding your IBS triggers AND creating a better relationship with food. Through the Low FODMAP diet and Intuitive Eating, I’ll be helping you AND your gut create a better relationship with food. Stay tuned for this premium program!
